The impact and influence of\u00a0Nas&#8217; debut album is still felt today, and many of his rap peers recently spoke about its legacy with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/music\/collection\/promotion_20005d6_vid_nas\" target=\"_blank\">Google Play<\/a>.\u00a0The video above features the likes of\u00a0<strong>Kendrick Lamar<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>ScHoolboy Q<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jay Rock<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Tech N9ne<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Sir Michael Rocks\u00a0<\/strong>describing the way\u00a0<em>Illmatic<\/em>\u00a0shaped their lives.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong> &#8220;I&#8217;ll always be a fan and a student of his work, period,&#8221; &#8211; Kendrick Lamar\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There&#8217;s also some great commentary from Nas, who shares a lot of anecdotes about his debut album.<em>\u00a0<\/em>&#8220;I saw Sting years ago, we talked about working on something. And he had listened to<em>Illmatic<\/em>, and he said to him it was a jazz album,&#8221; Nas remembers. &#8220;You always tend to learn something new about it each time you experience it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nas&#8217;\u00a0<em>Illmatic XX<\/em>\u00a0comes out April 15.
